June Meeting

We had a great night on Wednesday and believe it or not we actually talked about books!

We spent quite a bit of time discussing Shantaram which we agreed was a really great read. I am reading Noel Barber's  and . I also enjoyed , all of which give you insight into this region.

by Paul Theroux is also worth a look.

A couple of us have been reading Evening Is the Whole Day and think that it is an interesting read for people living in Malaysia.

Thanks to Harriet for the recycled books.

NEXT MONTH

At Jen's house (DP in TD). Jen, can you start a doodle with dates that suit you and post the link?

The topic is humour. Visit our GoodReads page for our suggestions. But we all thought that Ben Elton and Kathy Lette were worth investigating. Don't forget to see what is available as
an eBook or Audiobook (I listened to A Tiny Bit Marvellous on a very long train trip)

We also thought we would like to talk about movies, so if you have an incredibly funny movie or TV series  to share (Woody Allen seemed to be one we all agreed on) bring it along. I would recommend The Librarians - why wouldn't I!!! I have the DVDs - or rather Nia does!

Read any funny book and be prepared to come along and share the laughs!

See you at Jen"s

Future Meetings

Here are the topics we discussed. The hostess can choose the theme and feature book. Start sending titles for me to add to Goodreads. Follow the links below for titles so far. A book swap is always nice for end of year (July) and Christmas

Meeting in February

Main book - Killing Honour

Fill in the doodle for you preferred date. Helen will then choose which date suits her best.
Helen is hosting at her apartment in Danau Permai.

At the meeting in January we discussed how we would like to read for book club and here is the suggestion, we set a theme and a main book. We can all suggest books on the theme . It would be good to read the main book, but if you hate it, simply do some wider reading from the suggested list.

We all agreed that this should be fun and easy. If you haven't read the books we hope you will still come along.

Please follow the link and feel free to suggest other titles for February's topic
